The new moon was exact for those of us in the Eastern Standard Time Zone last night, March 18th 2026, around 9:30pm. However, the dark moon lasts for about two more nights. 

“What is done in the dark comes to light.” This is less an adage used to strike fear, and more so a remark on the nature of our cosmos, especially metaphysically. A seed is planted in the dark of the soil before it blooms. A baby gestates in the dark of the womb before being birthed into the world. A tree is judged by its fruit and, likewise, what is illuminated under the harsh light of a full moon can be linked to what is done, whether consciously or unconsciously, under the dark moon.

The moon – psyche – joins with the sun – conductor of will for roughly three nights. This is a powerful time to join our intentions with these astrological luminaries.  More specifically, for this new moon in Pisces, I find it interesting that the sun, moon, and Uranus are all approaching the anaretic degrees of their current signs. This means they are approaching the final degree – for the sun and moon, this would be 29° Pisces, while for Uranus, this would be 29° Taurus. This signals true and profound endings. This is compounded by Mercury stationing direct at 8° Pisces tomorrow, March 20th 2026. This is also at the same time as the Vernal (Spring) Equinox.

I align with the traditional wisdom of things – events, phenomena – happening in a series of three. In this case, the Spring Equinox (along with Mercury stationing direct), is the final event consummating the True New Year – the third phenomena of a series initiated by the Gregorian New Year on January 01 2026, and then furthered by the Lunar New Year on February 17 2026.

OF NOTE

Neptune, Saturn, and Venus are already leading the way in Aries, with Neptune and Saturn conjunct between 1 and 3 Aries. Equinox will mark the point in which the Sun and Moon will also join in the fiery realm of Taurus, though the Sun and Moon will no longer be yoked on their journey. This is why it is important to set our intentions while the two luminaries are together, so both can carry the energy forward as they inevitably separate on their journey.

Mercury is conjunct the North Node in Pisces, between 8 and 9 degrees. This indicates the important flashes of insight and cognition; a deluge of messages from the beyond. We must caution to wade in this energy rather than drown.

Venus, while at 15° Aries, is in a direct and tight square with Jupiter at 15° Cancer. Reluctance and reticence are the words that come to mind, perhaps specifically as a caution to not overindulge. Venus and Jupiter in this aspect pattern can be fickle with interests, affections, and commitments. 

All in all, this a beautiful lunar configuration with aspects favoring inspiration, despite the ugliness occurring on the world stage. It is a languid energy to bask in – the moments of stillness it bestows – before the Spring Equinox and turn toward Aries season.

PISCES – Simply put, this new moon brings with it a renewed sense of self, Pisces. It’s occurring in your 1st house – the area dealing with your appearance, but also how you see the world.
